This adds to the growing list of campus organizations that are opposed to this document in its current form. We will continue to campaign against these clauses [...]

In this edition of the Queen’s Alumni Review, we see a militant protest on campus sanitized, justified as mainstream (which is was not), and valorized as a necessary component of a just society. Yet conversely, at this moment, the administration is attempting to ram through a draconian code of conduct (The Queen’s Patriot Act), criminalizing [...]

On February 25, 2005, the New York Times reported that Hitchcock had faced a state ethics inquiry about allegations that she had offered to grant a construction contract to a developer, in exchange for an endowed university professorship once she had left the presidency.
However, it is alleged that once the scandal became known to Hitchcock, she departed SUNY Albany as soon as possible in order to avoid liability. The New York Ethics Commission was unable to take action against her after she had ceased being a state employee.
The Senate Committee responsible for the appointment of Hitchcock reported after the incident was made public at Queen’s University that they were made aware of the allegations by Dr. Hitchcock prior to their decision. The Senate Committee launched an investigation into the manner and found the allegations groundless.
Hitchcock has recently hired a legal team and approached the Governor of the State of New York asking for the case to be reopened and investigated so as to clear her name. Queen’s University has also hired legal assistance in the case.

The Student Senate Caucus produced their recommendations on the draft Code of Conduct. Other than requesting that Rule 11 be removed from the draft, the Caucus completely failed to bring up our concerns. They were more concerned about how Rule 9 would affect frosh week (!) than civil disobedience, freedom of speech, and/or freedom of [...]

The Queen’s University Senate Committee on Non-Academic Discipline (SONAD) has proposed a new draft Student Code of Conduct that would criminalize acts of civil disobedience, freedom of speech, and freedom of association on campus, making them expellable offenses. We must pull the plug on this document as soon as possible, as it is currently under [...]
